My name is Joseph, born in August 24 1972 from my great and beloved mother Clarita. An excellent and dedicated teacher who taught in grade school since she was 19 years old. She retired at the age of 53 and is now enjoying and having fun with her grand-daughter and grand-sons. Her newly born grandson is my first son named Von Greg Joseph. Sounds familiar? Maybe not hehehe!
Von Greg names derived from the two fathers who have lived on their very different way, life-style, attitude and discipline.
Greg was taken from my beloved grandfather Master Sgt. Gregorio Cabigquez Clarin. He served our country during World War II and did not surrender during the Japanese invasion in Mindanao instead he remained a guerrilla who fought for freedom for our nation together with his fellow guerrillas whom many have died on their way for fighting our freedom. My grandfather whose ancestral was from Clarin, Bohol have lived in a simple life, closed to green environment with fresh water, fresh air and fresh vegetables, together with his lovely and caring wife Cenona Tagaylo from Misamis Oriental ancestral.
Von is taken from my father's name Bonifacio, sounds the same? I think in Visayan, but not in English pronunciation hehehe! My father is great in his own way, but not in our family :-) lol (laugh out loud) Do you know why? Because, he was so friendly with other people like him who always having fun in the outside world, in short he used to live his life enjoying with friends, but had very limited time with us his family, while my mother was so busy attending and teaching other parents children. She was always alone in attending our daily need for my three younger sisters and me as the eldest. But guess what makes me proud of my father? He sang like Jose Mari Chan and can easily adjust and varied his voice similar to the singer's vocals like Tom Jones, etc...And not only that, he can also play different music instruments like guitar, piano, drums, etc..In short he can make people fun even he is alone...he can easily invite and catch up people’s attention on their open entertainment bar in our place, and especially during town fiesta. I witnessed that so many times in my younger age. I was really amazed and proud of him in that way, a very talented man yet immature in nature! But sorry he died at the age of 57 due to complete vices and no-control of his life style.
I think Muslims and Christians are very familiar with the name Joseph. That's me! lol noo, I am just kidding. It's Joseph the Carpenter and the husband of Mary. Mary the mother of Jesus on earth but was highly respected even by the angels in heaven. If you want to know the complete details of her life please read the Holy Bible :-) and even the holy Quoran of Islam :-) you have to!
Like I said I was born on premature and caesarian. My mother was critical let's say 50/50 (between life/death) during her operation for baby Joseph on the 24th day of August 1972 at St. Joseph Provincial Hospital in Maramag, Bukidnon. It was one month ahead of the so-called Martial Law, a decree proclaimed by Pres. Marcos on his regime. It was well-known in every corner of the world on how the Filipino people suffer on that time that if I only had a chance to join the protesters and the New People's Army - NPA, I did it for the sake of country and Filipino freedom. But it was so sad for me because I was only one month that time huh! I want to say sorry and thank you (only for those who fought) on that time. I know most of you guys are still living at this very moment. I hope you guys and your family be blessed with abundant grace from what you've done for our country, the Philippines. I bow my head and salute all of you. I admired you all! I wish there would be new born to be like you in our generation and on the next generation.
They said I was born with 2 teeth already (below and above) and it was true because those teeth were still there until even the other teeth have grown-up. My grandmother keep those teeth for a long time that even in my grade school I saw it. By the way, I grew-up from my grandparents at mother's side. All my uncles and aunties have contributed in feeding milk, buying milk and playing with me. At my childhood I am exposed so much in plowing a farm. To carry a plow, a fabricated steel tied up either side and hanged from a carabao's neck hehehe! Yes, I was the youngest among the farmers that time. I remember that plow is higher than me but I was able to handle it even on a rough soil with stones and rocks. You know why? Because I saw it from them (other older farmers) so I was thinking that I can do it also :-) but at my younger age that time was spectacular. I can't imagine that I did it, but feeling proud of myself since it made me matured, able understand the environment more, concerned with other farmers life, helped me grow-up as a kind boy, a helpful and cooperative individual in which I brought it up until now. Thanks for my grandparents, my uncles that have given me unprecedented support to be done supposedly fa father. Life for me that time have became more meaningful and more important that I'd able to understand what my mother is doing for as a teacher. I was able to absorb all the good teaching, positive attitude, a sense of a God fearing and very respectful individual. Not only that, I also learned how to be braved like my uncles did. They don't start or initiate trouble but won't withdraw in fighting. I applied that not for physical alone but for the mind to be intelligent enough to control and to be wised in dealing with troubles and misunderstanding. That's why I am called a very good troubleshooter in the field of electronics and communications where I have graduated three in-lined courses which are the following: General Radio Communications Operator - GRCO, Electronics and Communications Technician - ECT, and lastly the Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering - BSECE. I am also a good listener and adviser based on my experience in handling related problems.
Things I've learned from childhood had made me a good man, respectable, kind and helpful in general. And while I was growing up and became educated and professional, those good things were developed and applied positively in my job and wherever I go either in the working environment or in public. My great and beloved grandmother in mother's side taught me a lot in religious side to be faithful, God-fearing, to be kind and helpful. It helps me to be more matured, to be God-centered, focused, a spiritually armed to be strong in any trials came in my life. I was a working student in the entire college, working at night as a Security Guard to support my studies at daytime. I could not imagine how I managed my time specially when I was doing an apprenticeship in the largest broadcasting network in the country where I got my first job as Television Lighting Technician sometime in October 1993. It was a blessing for me so I could stop the risky job at night. I remember one of my friend fellow security guard was shot dead by his own gun when he got sleep at dawn time just after our coffee break along the Cebu City Pier. One un-identified person came across his guard house and grab his gun. He guarded the shipping company's warehouse just nearby the warehouse I guarded.
I could not imagine when I was doing my project in engineering drawing just beside the pier's pave road under the dimmed light from the lighting post 5 meters high above the ground. Trucks and forklifs passing along the road the sends out dust, sand dirt and landed on top of my drawing paper. But it was just okay because I was able to finish it. I have to log-out all vehicles coming in and out from the warehouse and stores, take the plate numbers, van unit numbers, etc., and sometimes assisted on inventory as instructed. But I could not forget to open my notebook afterwards and use my little precious time in the 12 hours duty at night. Where I should get the time to sleep if I have to roam around the huge warehouse every hour to swipe the key on the bundy clock in every corner? I got a third honor during the security guards training from the best training center in Cebu. But I could not avail the training centers privilege to work in Banks and other Clients with much higher salary because those clients requires shifting 8hrs duty, so I could not get to school if I grab it. So in short, my honor list was useless and I have to find Security Agency that could give me fixed hours duty. There was no other way but to accept the 12hrs fixed duty with a very low salary. Not even one fourth from those with higher salary clients. Despite of that I still felt lucky and blessed because I have a job to pay my boarding house and tuition fee. I could not remember that I paid my tuition fees on time. Most of the time, I had to drop a promissory note so I could take the exam. And guess what? May be you know it. Some instructors gave additional points to those who paid and approved for the exam. There are 10 points, 15 points and so on but I don't have mine. I want to avail such additional points especially in mathematics. Engineering mathematics was all crucial for me because I am not well on that. Since grade school my mathematics subject if not averaged, I only got 80, and no more than that. My ambition was a lawyer or military where I believed I could maximize my interest in law enforcement and public service but I was not lucky as others so I have to go for a cheaper course in electronics vocational course where it was totally not in my mind. But I have to focus on it and adjust as possible. I have a sense of good understanding so I was able to cope up things easily until I proceed to engineering and was fortunately successful in landing good job both domestic and abroad.
I could say that I am an expert in the field of electronics and communications but am I still longing for my ambition in law enforcement. If I may be given a chance to pursue later on then I have to as an aid for my willingness to serve my country and people in a unique and progressive place to live in, a law that project and gives all people the right to live abundantly, in the right way. At my age of 36 (that was two years ago) a lot of companies wanted to higher me as Consultant in telecommunications and electronics. However, I could not transfer easily to other company as I still have contract with the recent job. Hopefully those phone calls and e-mails on intentions of hiring me would come again in my door of opportunities when I finished my contract in July 2011.
Yes, I could be a consultant since I have qualification and experience. I can do project implementation and project management, can do design through the latest technology with the most evolving IP (Internet Protocol) based system. I can lead skilled technical people, and can troubleshoot down to component level in wide variety of electronics and communications system. I can work efficiently and effectively could be as team and or independently with very minimal supervision.
My experience were mainly in maintenance, installation, commission and equipment configuration for almost 10 years particularly in radio and television broadcasting, CATV, UHF and VHF for Paging System Link and Broadcast conjoined with PABX programming system and ACD – Automatic Call Distributor by – AT&T Definity within the LAN/WAN and leased line environment, Satellite/VSAT for high speed internet, Microwave Radio Ethernet Lan Extenders, Military Communications for the US Air Force and US Navy global defense communication system, and Royal Saudi Air Force air to ground to air radio communications, Satellite/VSAT for VoIP, Video Streaming and high speed internet, Wireless IP CCTV, Wireless/Microwave Lan Extender, wired network with good exposures in fiber optic system design and implementation as a compliment in networking (data communications) distribution.
Working as Senior Telecommunications and Electronics Engineer with the GACA Facilities Engineering in Dammam International Airport, Saudi government however, have hired me on that particular position as government seconded engineer to be responsible for all government projects to review and approve engineering design, scope of work, and required materials and man-hours. Airport is a home for business investors, airliners and law enforcement agencies such as customs, GSM providers, Wireless Internet providers, Saudi Airlines, etc. Recent airport's special system replacement and upgrading project includes the following: Its own IP CCTV and Security System, Flight Information Display or FIDS with the Gaca wide network infrastructure projects from fast ethernet to a gigabits speed that could accommodate present and future network traffic.
Most of my job as government seconded engineer include design, prepares scope of work, materials and man-hours, recommend, review and approve engineering design package from O&M and outside Contractors from Tenant and Investors. Monitors and coordinate with the contractors in project implementation, modifications and upgrading. Conduct site engineering survey and inspection of ongoing and upcoming project by specifying KFIA requirements through airport's base specifications conforming all the applicable International code and standard. Assure that contractors maintained quality control of their work and staff performance.
Before having the above senior position, I was once an excellent troubleshooter particularly in electronics communications system (hardware) that includes radio communication transmitters from various manufacturers such as motorola, marconi, harris, rockwell collins international, ericsson and eclipse. Some of which are computer based system that requires configuration and deep knowledge in data networking. I also have good exposure in IP based network such as Wireless Networking/WLAN and satellite communications/VSAT providing high speed internet, VoIP and video streaming through different platform and technology such as TDMA/DAMA, SCPC/DAMA, fixed, stabilize and auto-acquisition. By nature, it is my personality to learn fast, to evolve myself into much interesting and challenging things, either in my work and personal lifestyle. I have willingness to learn more even on the most sophisticated and risky things. Unfortunately, hindrance is always along the way, problems that could not be avoided, sometime you win and sometimes you lose. Life is a mystery that no one can predict. It’s all on the hands of the creator. So we must be contended of what he gave us today. Just don't stop spreading your wings and fly while you can.
In total I have more than 14.5 years of working experience with the most evolving electronics, communications and information technology.
